FAQ

This page gathers verified information for GeneaProof users and visitors.

Are living people public?

No. Living people and people with unknown living status are treated cautiously and remain private by default. Workspace membership, public sharing and participation in cross-workspace research matching are separate decisions.

Can I bring existing research?

Yes. GeneaProof supports version-aware import workflows, preserved original records, mapping review and explicit loss reporting. Keep your original file and review the import result before treating the new workspace as the authoritative copy.

Can relatives or colleagues work together?

Yes. Owners, administrators, editors, contributors and readers receive different permissions. Comments and reviews can stay attached to the exact person, source, assertion or research object without giving every collaborator unrestricted editing rights.

How do subscriptions change or end?

Available self-service plans can be purchased and managed through secure hosted payment pages. Upgrades, downgrades, renewal dates, cancellation and the effective plan are shown in the account and billing views; cancellation stops future renewal without deleting research automatically.

Can I leave without losing my research?

GeneaProof is designed around portable research and explicit exports. Export before closing an account, verify the downloaded files and keep your own backup of irreplaceable sources and media.
